Well-designed, attractive and effective teaching materials not only facilitate the work of teachers and allow them to adapt them in a practical way to their specific situation. However, it is not always easy to find a functional and economical type of didactic material that promotes learning by doing and responds to the particular needs diagnosed in the classroom. This project presents the design of task-based communicative materials on the topics of Citizenship and Community Volunteering that aimed to meet the needs of Lighthouse Academy students and strengthen their oral production skills according to the context for Venezuelan EFL classes within the B1 proficiency level. For the elaboration and design of the educational material, the task concepts stated by Ellis (1993) and Willis (1996) were taken as a reference. The methodology for the realization of the sessions has been the Task Approach from a communicative and student-centered approach. Likewise, the six principles for the creation of materials proposed by Tomlinson (1998) were followed. These aim to achieve the highest levels of effectiveness in the use of didactic materials in the practice of language teaching. As a result, twelve integrated lessons were designed and created, as well as teacher's guidelines and support materials for each of them. The first six sessions deal with citizenship and the other six with community volunteering. These represent a useful tool for teachers adjusted to the cultural and educational context of the students according to the context for EFL classes in Venezuela at the B1 proficiency level. Likewise, they will allow creating opportunities to boost and strengthen students' oral production considering their learning needs and interests according to the context. Finally, this work is a contribution to the community of EFL teachers as a reference model of how to apply the Task-Based Learning methodology for a specific purpose and context. Future research also has in this work a material to put into practice and analyze the scope and effectiveness of use in order to propose opportunities for improvement that could enrich not only the results of this work but also the research efforts and practice of creating effective materials for EFL teaching.
