In this project, an action research proposal is developed that is focused on improving the communicative competence of the English language through the use of performances as a didactic strategy in the communicative competence, it was developed in a class of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) level A1 of eleventh grade in the Institución Educativa empresarial y agroindustrial Los Andes "Inseandes" a public school in the city of Sogamoso, Department of Boyacá in Colombia. This project encompasses two areas; the design and implementation, on the one hand, 5 activities were designed taking into account the theories of various authors who talk about the importance of using artistic presentations, such as plays, role plays, and different types of scenarios suitable for learning, all focused on promoting oral proficiency in English. This project is also of great help to the teacher because, taking into account that in Colombia, in public schools, English has an hourly intensity established by the government of two or a maximum of three hours per week, this project helps the teacher to be able to use these three hours per week and to be more dynamic, creative and empathetic, also to capture the attention and motivate the students. To support the students and achieve an A2 level, artistic performances were implemented and the students were given the leading role, so the student changes the role of the passive spectator who was only observed to be an active part of those didactic opportunities offered by the new forms of artistic expressions, such as performances. This project develops students' expressiveness and creativity, their ability to work in teams, and their intellectual maturity. One of the intentions of this project is that students feel free to express themselves and communicate, without pressure, opening up spaces for them to act freely and develop all their socio-emotional and cognitive skills. The action research proposal of this final work corresponds to a qualitative, descriptive, and interpretative study in which a group of students participated. The study was carried out in the Institución educativa empresarial y agroindustrial Los Andes "Inseandes", a public school in Boyacá (Colombia). Five steps were developed: 1: Diagnosis and presentation of the problem, 2: Analysis of the main problem or problem areas in dialogue with the theoretical framework, 3: Design of strategies and didactic techniques, 4: Implementation of strategies and didactic techniques, 5: Evaluation of the implementation of strategies and intervention techniques in the classroom. This is a specific research project to "seek to discover and understand a phenomenon, a process or the perspectives and worldviews of the people involved" (Merriam, 1998, p.11). The findings of this research will become a combination of description and analysis. This analysis is based on the theoretical framework realized through the study. In this proposal I have worked with thirty-seven students whose ages range from fifteen to seventeen years old, of them 16 are boys and 21 are girls from a middle social class of eleventh grade, after observation, this group showed a remarkable weakness in communicative competence as well as low motivation towards English classes. Within this group, all the students are Colombian and none have had any experience traveling or learning outside the country. It is understood that the levels of English language proficiency in public schools are very low, due to the low intensity of the timetable and in this school, in particular. This project was a challenge because the students are interested in having a good level, but not in English, they are interested in other areas such as systems and school specialties. Therefore, the use of artistic presentations arose from the need to help this group of students improve their oral competence in their English classes, as it was evident from the observation made that oral presentations and presentations in front of an audience did not work well, most wanted to avoid these activities and preferred to lose those grades rather than have to speak in English. This project is a contribution to the field of TEFL, it is an innovative proposal that includes the improvement of oral skills during English classes. The activities were designed and continued with the preparation of each activity, using the strategy of artistic presentations the students learned better when they used English to make performances, make presentations, and include new scenarios, they improved their dynamics of working in groups and their social-emotional skills, They learned how language works and did not focus on grammar rules, they lost to fear and gained motivation, the results are evident, the students changed their way of learning and also their ability to speak in English is now a key skill in class, also the performances were established in all classes as a regular activity in the school.
