TY - THES Y1 - 1000/01/01/ UR - http://repositorio.uneatlantico.es/id/eprint/1551/ N2 - This Final Project explores an after school curriculum designed to prepare students for everyday life challenges they may face in their new home country. Students are asked to be pro active participants in their learning and to take a hands on approach exploring various topics such as resume building, interpreting for relatives, and talking to professionals for career options and advice. The curriculum implements CLIL and TBL principles as well as taking Gardner's learning styles into account. Through questionnaires, group discussions, and student feedback (in general), educators will determine if this curriculum is worth introducing to the larger ESL community. In addition, this study sets out to see what affective variables such as motivation, cultural differences and social pressures affect the learning process and how these students perceive themselves. The hope is that students will learn practical skills and break down emotional and psychological barriers that might exist, which could prevent them from achieving their goals. Finally, the motto of this project is "Be prepared".
